I have finished a lot of my nutcrackers into ornaments, but I wanted to try something different. I thought they would be really fun as stand ups I could place on the mantel over the holidays and I am so happy with how they turned out! For these, I outlined the border in a dome shape (you can find my tips on outlining your canvas here). If you’re stitching with the purpose of finishing them this way, make sure you stitch a base wide enough that the needlepoint will be able to stand up and won’t be too top heavy!
I worked with Rittenhouse Needlepoint to get these finished and I was so pleased with the quality and the turnaround time. The stand ups have a nice weight to them and the velvet fabric they provide is so rich and beautiful. They also did a wonderful job matching the cording to the design!
